To blog is a responsibility?

Holy crap, the missus just forced me to update this... silly rant.

So how are you guys shaping up? Christmas is just round the corner and I hope you guys are feeling the spirit. EVEN though its been totally commercialised... still we can keep the spirit, ya?

I've been on leave since the 20th and its fabulous. I've not bonded with the sofa because I have actually become part of a sofa. Yup, I've been assimilated into being a sofa. Being a slug is just so fun. TV in front, control on hands, notebook hooked on internet, food in the fridge... what more can a man ask for?

Did you guy manage to watch any nice heart warming movies lately? There don't seem to be anymore of this nice Christmassy movies.. I watched one on HBO just a day back, Valley of Light. quite touching, but nothing to crow about. Hallmark channel is going to show a remake of 'scrooge' (hears groans and 'not agains') and surprise surprise ANOTHER remake of 'scrooge'. Christmas u get lots of scrooge. So are you a scrooge like me bro in London? I'm making him buy me a PR in UK. Well if we have to ask, we ask for the impossible. All i have for him for Christmas is some cheesy gift. HAHA. Thats me, an absolute asshole.

Since i've been quite happy with life on the sofa this couple of days, there's really nothing much to rant about. Not that I can't start, but I'm in no mood to start, you know how cancerians are, full of moods. Everything depends on a cancerian mood. Trust me.

Well most probably I won't be here updating till after Christmas where maybe I can rant about the gifts I'm going to recieve, IF i get to receive em.

Have a Merry Happy Christmas!

Weekend Rants

So hows your weekend? Did you.. like me... just became a couch slug, hogging onto the remote control and feasting your eyes on programmes you'd probably would have laugh at if your mates told you they watched it?

What makes weekends so important? That girlfriends, boyfriends and families demand that you spend your time with them.. Is it that there will indeed be quaility time during the weekends and one can't get quality time during a common weekday?

I love my wife. She's forever working. But whenever we feel that we need quality time, we just stay up in bed and talk and talk and talk and.... talk... and talk..... and talk.. there's never ending topics to talk about. Sometimes revisiting history again and again and it never gets bored. Well to put right some people, I love her not that she's forever working, what i meant was, even though she's forever working, I love her all the same.

Maybe one day will come when she brings the bacon home and I, the man, would just be a couch slug. A snail, an invertebrate, in comatose on the sofa, hogging the remote control. Just give me cable, Internet and Food, lets not forget cigarettes or cancer sticks.

I'm amazed at my Missus pretty frequently, even though we've been together for 3 years or more. To say she's independent would be far fetched, but she's not far from it. She has her own strong ways and yet sometimes she's so weak, she needs protection. Sometimes she says the darnest things and she likes 'cold' jokes, which to me are.... DOH~ but since it tickles her, I learn to share it with her and let her share it with me.

Sometimes I miss her so much till it hurts. Even though we see each other everyday. Sometimes hearing her breathe when she sleeps gives me comfort. When she laughs the whole world laughs with her, when she cries, my whole world shatters. Sometimes she's infuriating, sometimes she's just plain silly. To have her is like a dream. Thank heavens I'm with her.

Anyway after that mushy stuff, after the football match yesterday, I happened to tuned into Star Movies (Chinese) and a korean drama was on. So much poems.. some was pretty sweet,

You do your own things,
Forever thinking that I've not caught you looking at me.
Thank you for noticing me,
I hope you've not caught me looking at you.
You are like the beautiful fish in the ocean,
Swimming your way.
I am the ocean,
Letting you have your way.
Would you mind if I swam with you?

There were plenty more poems they used and all were sweet and touching. As i was surfing the channels, I missed quite a bit of the show, shucks. And I couldn't remember the title of the show.

I hope you guys had a beautiful weekend.

Festive Season for Rants!

ho ho ho joyous readers its that time of the year where money isn't ever enough. Be forewarned this is a massive long wordy blog. Coz I haven't been ranting for days...

Why do people ever buy thier gift early? There's never a sale going on and you'll never know if that friend will soon turn into a foe! Well the only reason will be to beat the queue at the cash register 'Ka Ching!' Still the only time you can feel the festive mood is during the rush of sales.

Congratulations again to Dear Missus Tan for finally getting her Blue I/C. What an ever hassle there was. The never ending forms and the never ending queues plus over zealous officers finding every reason to reject your application. But no longer, because Sillypore wants a population of 7million. That's right, only in Sillypore do they count Permanent Residents as a part of citizens. I'm sure they are still cracking thier heads on WHY these people never applies for citizenship! What a laugh!

Lay people like us queue and do it by the system (takes about 3 months), but if you are rich and buy over some million dollar building, your process takes 2 days and an officer delivers the blue i/c to you with 2 hands and a bow. And our poor school children talks about upholding meritocracy etc etc brained washed by our dear civil servants. Money rules, democractic or not. Look at Kim Jong watever of the North Korean Republic, asshole drinks wine, nice dinner, stays in a palace, while the poor population bows and prays to him like some kind of God. If you guys watched discovery channel you'd have laugh your head off when one of the poor korean peasant said, Because our General is So great, America with thier nuclear bombs are afraid of us. Such logic. If only someone would have just told him, USA don't give a damn about you because you have NO OIL. And anyway a Merry X'mas to you, you poor demented peasant of the PRK. Santa should and must deliver some happy gifts to you. We should all bless the poor souls in PRK. But hold your donations till that pot bellied ass of the General dies.

Which brings me to my dear jolly friends and loved ones. Yes, you too my dear colleagues (Stop asking for an increment) Jolly tidings and merry xmas to all of you, yes you the one in Canada, where its forever 1C degree, whats wrong with Yahoo weather? Its always 1c in the place she's at. My dearest friends please take some time in this festive season to think of the poor souls. I know that we ourselves need some good tidings ourselves, but seriously there are people in this earth who have more severe problems than us. When you slice into the hot juicy turkey, chewing that honey baked ham, spare a thought for those who are more unfortunate than us. And if possible, please do offer a prayer. I don't care what religion you are in, just offer a prayer to your God or Gods (for some) for the unfortunates.

I wish all of you readers a merry and joyous Christmas. I wish that all of you are always in a state of love. In love or being loved. Because I always love you guys. Yes, you the one in London too. None of you are forgotten in my prayers in this jolly festive season.. (yes, you too, you stupid timeshare/insurance/finance/ sales/tele marketeer person)

Lets rant about them the next time.

Life and its Quirkiness

Cheerios my dear readers. Quite a few who checks in and thanks to you. And of course dear Missus.

A round of applause and congratulations to the missus for gaining her PR! Yes, finally she can borrow books from the library using her own identity card, she gets to pay taxes, gets to have CPF, discounts/subsidies in government stuff, buy HDB flat and so on except get to vote. Whats in a vote anyway? Sillyporeans are too afraid to try anything new, rock the boat or whatever. Look at our dear friends in Ozzieland, well done on your choice of a new Prime Minister, the old one was getting too full of himself and slowly turning authoritarian. Like how Thaksin was changing. Not saying that the current government is crappy or anything...

Wow what a lot to say when its just about PR. One thing does lead to another as usual.

Today we rant about people who hates thier boss. Well not that relationships are without frictions, so expect to have some friction with your boss too. Sometimes, you just have to laugh softly instead of letting the whole office know you're idling. If you have to idle, do it in a smarter way. Look around you and you may see someone working thier ass off, while you and others are having a jolly fun time. Not that there's anything wrong in having a fun time in the office, but control your idle times. You don't get paid to be idle and slack right?

Then of course, bosses shouldn't expect thier staff to read thier mind and/or moods. So my dear colleagues, I apologise for my temper and shit. There.

I hear some comments about the friends thing about how we should just forgive and forget, about give and take. Yes but some friends are worthy of forgiving and forgetting while some you should just forget. All relationships are give and take. Being humans, we'll take things for granted and need to be reminded. Its either a gentle reminder or a stern and firm reminder. It all depends on how you manage your friendship. If you want to treat everyone the same, KUDOS to you, but we all know its not possible. Because you can't possibly go up to an hour old 'friend' and start telling him/her how wonderfully happy you are thereby causing envy, or tell him/her how sad/miserable you are, and causing this new found friend to FEAR you. So like it or not, we do compartmentalise our friends. Get your friends a gift this year. Make a card, say hello to a long lost friend. Lets see whats in stored.

Christmas is coming around really quick for me this year, so whats the plan? Any chance we get snow this Christmas? No not the fake stuff. We want the REAL stuff.

Wonder whats Paul getting me this year. Not that i EVER EVER EVER get him anything in return, its just so fun to receive without giving. Not that he ever bothers or care, which takes out the fun a little bit, but what the heck, Paul, can I have a house in missusland this year instead?

Yup I'm back

After a lengthy layoff of a few days I'm back with more rants. Ok 1 rant, errr make that 2 whatever.

I was supposed to carry on with the men v women debate but today I wanna rant about friends.

As the saying goes, Quality not Quantity. Its not about how many friends you have but rather how many really good friends you have. Sadly we should all compartmentalise our friends, put them into different boxes titled, Acquaintance, Hi-Bye, Potential, Good friend, Buddies, Shopping, Outings, Die hard etc. After you have done this, you have to be open minded enough to switch names between the boxes, because a certain acquaintance might interest you more and slowly upgrade the name or throw it into another box.

Most importantly have a compartment titled "When in trouble look here". I realised I used up that boxful of names quite long ago and now I've to look inside myself to see what went wrong. (Paul excluded because he's just too far away)

I've learnt this the hard way through growing up and if you happen to read this, good on you, but better for you if you start to compartmentalise now. It'll save you lots of heartaches and disappointments in the years to come.
